Eligibility Requirements

- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school
- Students with less than a 3.0 will be considered if they submit a one-page written explanation for the lower GPA and their plan for maintaining a higher GPA if admitted
- Place in at least MAT 24 and ENG101 for you first semester in the program
- Students who place in MAT 3A or ENG1A will be exempt from the summer course(s)

- Placements can done through the STAAR exam, SAT scores, AP scores, CAASP scores, ELM/EPT scores, or passing the appropriate prerequisite courses
- Please contact us or talk to your high school counselor for more information about placement
- Agree to follow the prescribed pathway and participate in all cohort activities
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school
Strong preference will be given to graduating seniors and college students with less than 30 completed units. Applicants who already have a bachelors degree will not be considered.
How to Apply

- Apply for admission to Hartnell College
- Obtain a Hartnell Student ID #
- Complete the 1 hour online orientation
- Complete the online CSin3 application form
- Unofficial Transcripts
- High School transcripts required for all applicants
- Current college students* should also provide their college transcripts
- A letter of recommendation
- Personal statement – In 1000 words or less, please answer one of the following essay prompts:
- Prompt 1: What is your interest in computer science and why do you feel you will succeed in the CSin3 program?
- Prompt 2: Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that has made a profound impact in your life. How has that helped shape you into the person are today?
- Unofficial Transcripts
- Participate in a group interview for admission with CSin3 staff. Students who meet eligibility requirements and have successfully completed steps 1 and 2 will be invited to interview for admissions.
- Apply for admission to Hartnell College
*Students who have attended an institution other than Hartnell should arrange to have their official transcripts sent to Hartnell.

December 12, 2017: Application Deadline
December 12, 2017- January 18, 2018: Rolling Admissions (applications will be reviewed if there is a space in the cohort)
Late January- Early May: Math Intensive Workshops on Saturdays

March 27, 2018 – April 20, 2018
Room has become available to admit a limited amount of students. We are re-opening applications under very specific conditions. Applicants must be Monterey County High School Seniors or Hartnell/MPC Community College students who are or will be eligible to enroll in MAT 3A Analytic Geometry & Calculus I in the Fall of 2018 or currently enrolled in one of the following courses:
- MAT 24
- MAT 25
- MAT 27
Students must meet the conditions listed above in order to be considered for the program
